Dianne like many kids would sit at her desk for hours working on her school work well into the evening. She finally put her pencil down and wiped the tears off her cheeks. These kids are not really learning much more than the kids that are doing poorly.

This is the shallow math trap that leads either to frustration or mere boredom, while giving a false sense of accomplishment for those who can follow directions and a false sense of failure for those who cannot. Good memorizers are conditioned to study for the grade and not for the gaining of understanding and brain growth. Bad memorizers are conditioned to beat themselves up about their poor “math” performance and feel “less than.” Math education for your kids doesn’t have to be this way anymore. Take back control.
