DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT

Your kids take a dynamic online assessment so you can see where they are in their English journey. They are then placed in a class that fits their knowledge base and skill sets and we build their proficiency from there. Baseline metrics are necessary to determine the best class fit for your child.

GROUP TUTORING

These are ongoing virtual sessions with a maximum of 6 students grouped together according to similar knowledge and skills based on their assessment scores. Kids in groups have greater output in learning and skills acquired compared to their 1-1 counterparts.

1-1 TUTORING

These are sessions for students who need extra attention or those who have a learning disability. In special circumstances 1-1 tutoring can be the better approach, but in general group sessions motivate kids to do better and stay on track due to group synergy.

DEDICATED ENGLISH TUTOR

Your child is assigned the same tutor for as long as they are with us. This means your child gets exceptional care by not bouncing around from tutor to tutor. Our tutors are rigorously vetted. Only the best make it through and undergo ongoing training to get your kids to the next level of excellence.

DEDICATED CLASS PORTAL

You and your children will get access to your own dedicated class portal where you will find all the class details such as the teacher’s bio, session date & time, Zoom link, homework assignments, posted questions and answers, group discussions, parent & student enrichment and much much more.

WEEKLY SESSIONS VIA ZOOM

Each session will be conducted live with a dedicated English tutor and all students in a
virtual tutoring class via Zoom. Lessons and exercises will be done via a shared whiteboard.

WEEKLY CLASS RECORDINGS

If your children are unable to attend class for whatever reason, you will have access to all missed class recordings via your dedicated class portal so they can make up the lesson at their convenience.

WEEKLY HOMEWORK & REVIEW

Your children will be assigned homework after every session and will be expected to complete their homework before the start of next week’s session. They can post any questions related to homework where they need help and their dedicated tutor can answer their questions during the next class.

What curriculums do you use?

We use the best curriculums that the homeschooling community has to offer. For third grade and up, we use Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) for writing, Rod and Staff for grammar, Killgallon for sentence composing, Wordly Wise or Vocab from the Classical Roots for vocabulary. For the younger grades, we use Rod and Staff phonics, and different readers to help them with reading.

What are the benefits of group classes?

1. All students in my group classes consistently finish at least 4 workbooks per school year. Students who do one on one classes seldom have that amount of productivity. It is due to peer pressure that students in group classes have that kind of productivity.

2. We frequently post one student’s answer on Zoom whiteboard, and we will have the rest of the class discuss why the answer is wrong or right. They learn to critique one another’s approaches, and they learn to learn from one another.

3. Sometimes we split up the class into two groups and they compete against each other after the instructor covers the material. The competition atmosphere drives them to do many questions under a very short time, and it’s always great fun for them.

4. Sometimes we have the student who answers a difficult question correctly explains his approach to the whole class. When one has to explain or teach someone else, he ends up learning the material even more solidly.

5. Sometimes we set up breakout rooms and send two students there to work on a challenging question together. They put their brains together to work on the question, meanwhile learning how to formulate their thoughts and convey them to their classmate, and also learning how to listen to understand their classmate’s point of view. Many times, they will come back with the answers that individually they would not be able to solve.

6. Sometimes we have the students who finish the questions posted on whiteboard craft questions of the similar type for the rest of the class to do. This is a more difficult assignment because in order for them to be able to craft questions, they have to understand the concept and operation thoroughly. They also have to solve their own questions correctly before we post them to the class to solve. When they are unable solve their own questions correctly, they have to rethink how to formulate their question. It is an excellent exercise that we do very frequently!

7. Group classes are cheaper.

Having said that, we do offer one on one classes, especially for struggling students who would not benefit from group classes. But unless the students are struggling, I generally encourage students to do group classes because of the dynamics and synergy that are impossible to create in one on one classes.

Are the students grouped by grade level?

No. We group students by their assessment scores instead of their grade level. Some young students are quite advanced and some older students need some catching up, so grouping them by their assessment scores is more accurate.

How many students do you have in each class?

We have a minimum of four students and maximum of six.

Is it once-a-week class and are the classes an hour long?

The classes are once a week. For third grade and up, there are one and a half hours long full language arts classes or an hour long writing classes. For 2nd grade and under, the classes are one hour long.

What days and times are the classes?

The days and times for each class will vary. You will see a list of available classes appropriate for your children’s level after they receive their assessment scores. Our year-round classes are mostly during after school hours from 4 to 8pm Central Time. There are four weeks of the year when we do not have classes: Spring Break week, Thanksgiving week, and the last two weeks in December.

Do you assign homework?

Yes. Teachers will assign homework from the workbooks after each class.

Do you provide workbooks?

No, we do not provide workbooks. You need to purchase the books separately with the links we provide you.

How do I access previously assigned homework?

Click on “Classes” tab on the left menu inside your parent portal, then click on the green button “See Class Details”, then click on “Homework” tab, in the field “Date Entered”, input your date range, and previous homework will pull up for you.

What is the enrollment process?

1. Create your parent account here: https://app.singaporemathclasses.com/signup
2. Create your children’s profiles and have them take their assessments and receive their scores.
3. Based on their scores, a list of available classes will appear and you can choose the ones appropriate to their level that work for you.
4. Complete the enrollment by making a payment. Children will be able to access their class details only after the payment has been received. Without these details your children will not be able to access their classes.

What are the prices and payment methods?

The prices are as follows:

• Grade 1 and Under: $120/month,
• Grade 2 to 3: $140/month,
• Grade 4 to 8 (1.5 hour classes): $210/month,
• Grade 9 to 12 (1.5 hour classes): $240/month,
• English SAT Group Class: $200/month,
• English SAT – Private Tutoring: $340/month,
• Private Tutoring: $260/month.

There will be a one-time registration fee of $100 per family when a student enrolls. Since our classes are year round, and since we take four weeks off, there are a total of 48 classes, which average out to be 4 classes per month. So the monthly tuition is for four classes regardless if the month has more or less than four classes. Tuition will be paid on a monthly recurring basis using one of your preferred credit cards. Please give us one month notice when you wish to stop classes.

Do the fees cover workbooks?

The fees do not cover workbooks. You need to purchase the books separately with the links we provide you.

Can we have a free trial class?

Our trial class is free, but if you decide to enroll in the classes, the tuition will start from the trial class.
